Poll: The Registry

This past weekend the fiancé and I registered for anything and everything that we could possibly desire…from the cutest chip & dip tray to a classy pillow sham and decorative pillow. We/I couldn’t be more excited. It is only a matter of time before I begin to obsessively check the registry on-line to see what has been purchased and what is still available.
As excited as I am about what we registered for, I am nervous about the actual registry. I have heard stories about stores not allowing returns, registries not updating daily/nightly thus resulting in receiving duplicate gifts, etc.
The poll today is asking for registry feedback. Our of the 4 stores listed below, which ones have you registered at? (Multiple selections are allowed and the poll is located at the top right of the blog.)

If you have registered at one of the above stores, please leave a comment with your thoughts on the store’s bridal registry and your experience with the registry/registries. We/I greatly appreciate it!
And because I'm all about pretty and colorful pictures this week:

{Update: Total votes: 33. BB&B: 13, Target: 8, Crate & Barrel: 20, Macys: 16}

  1. I registered at Crate and Barrel, PB and Macys. I've had a pretty good experience at all places. I think the operation at all places are pretty much the same. Have fun!

  2. One of our registries was at Bed Bath & Beyond, and they have a fabulous return policy. If it was purchased off your registry (and your guest was nice enough to let them know)you can get cash back with or without a receipt! We didn't have a single problem with them, and most brides I know who have registered with BB&B have had a great experience!

  3. I registered at Macys, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma. Only problem so far is that Pottery Barn discontinues items so often, I keep having to update it. We went with less seasonal items at C&B. Macy's has been super fast with shipping.

I've heard horror stories about Target's return policy - only 2 items less than $20 without a receipt and apparently they aren't very good about taking things off of a registry so you can easily end up with multiples.

  4. Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, and Bed Bath and Beyond were the three stores we registered with and had a fabulous experience with all three.

For our Baby Shower, Target was one of the places we registered and it was a nightmare. The registry didn't update fast enough, so the duplicate gifts were overwhelming. The exchange process was not very welcoming either. I know their return policy has changed since then, but from what I hear it's not any easier. FWIW, If I could do it over, I would not register at Target.

  5. Three of my friends have had issues with returning items to Target. Even though items may be on your registry, they tend to hassle you because you don't have a receipt. They told my friend that the gift giver should have given her a gift receipt, but not everyone thinks to do that. Hopefully you won't have that issue!

  8. I just stumbled across your blog and I think it's great! You have a whole bunch of relevant info in here! I wish you lived in NC so we could trade info about vendors!

We are registering at Pottery Barn, BBB and JC Penney for linens/sheets. I have heard horror stories about Target from friends (also regarding return policies). LNT had a good program but they just declared bankruptcy... One of my friends and her fiance just bought a house so they are registering at Home Depot... an interesting idea.

  9. I registered at macys, C&B, PB & target. I have to echo the other thoughts on target- returns are an absolute pain. It was bad when I was married 3 years ago, but it has gotten even worse. I just registered there for my baby shower and even if the item was on my registry, if I did not have the gift receipt they would not take it back. What makes it worse is that many people don't put the gift receipt in because it is attached to their receipt. It is a bummer because they have so many fun things.

Macy's was great- you can get a gift certificate back for a percentage of the total cost that everyone spends on your registry (post wedding jeans- I think so!)

C&B gave us a check back for items we returned off of our registry. You just have to be careful with registering for seasonal items.

    Hope that helps! Have fun!

  10. I've also heard of registering at The Home Depot and I think it's fabulous! Every man will need a cordless drill and ladder to hang up those new curtains! :-)
