I Miss You Daddy

Some of you may have wondered why I haven't been posting this week.
This past Sunday, my Daddy passed away very suddenly at the age of 62. 2 weeks before my birthday and three months before the wedding. As you can imagine Mommy and I are devastated and life has pretty much come to a halt.
My Daddy often read my blog, to keep up with my ideas. He loved hearing about the wedding and was SO involved. You know, it's funny....Daddy came with Mommy and I when we went dress shopping. He saw me in my dress and my veil and had tears in his eyes. He will be buried in the tie that he would have worn to walk me down the aisle....and that is exactly what he would have wanted. I'll miss you Daddy, you know that you meant more to me than I could have ever expressed. When I feel that gust of wind blow my dress and my veil around on my wedding day, I'll know that you are there.
I don't know when I will be back to posting, maybe some time next week. So much thanks goes out to my friends and Chris, who have made this time in my life somewhat bearable.

  32. Jess, I've been checking in on your blog and it's been unlike you to not do daily posts. It was shocking to read your latest one. My father passed away when I was 14 and it's been hard at times to "cope" with knowing that my father won't physically be there to witness and be a part of my treasured wedding day. We were very close. However, he will be there in spirit - undoubtedly...as will your father. Sending you heartfelt hugs.

My heart breaks to think of how you must be handling this as your wedding day fast approaches. You will find out what amazing strength you have. This will get you through the coming months and you will eventually begin to smile and laugh again. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help in the wedding area or offer advice of what to do when somebody passes. It is a shocking amount of tasks that surround somebody passing and all you really want to do is grieve. Many thoughts and prayers!

  87. Although I don't know you and am just a reader of your blog, my deepest condolences go out to you and your family.
I know there is nothing that can be said to take away the pain... The pain can only ease over time.

My father passed away suddenly two years ago, at the age of 57, right before my brother's wedding. It was a tough time for all... but now is the time to take solace and find strength in your family and friends.

There will be little things that you can do on your wedding day in remembrance of him... Save him a seat in the front row... Wrap your bouquet in one of his old handkerchiefs or adorn it with a cufflink... Or, sew a piece of one of his ties on the inside of your dress... That way, he will still be with you while you walk down the aisle.
There are little things that you can do EVERYDAY to remember him... I leave the front porch light on so that he can find his way home every night.

Am hoping these little things will help you get through this terrible time.

I love you and will miss your dad so much. Like we've said he will be there with us forever, he'll be that wind blowing through the windows when we hug or that shooting star across the night sky while watching the fireworks together. He'll be there. I love you and can't wait to hold you in my arms again the next chance I get.
