What do we think about this idea for when we exit the church (picture via amy squires):
We shall call them "ribbon wavers." Our ribbon would be plum, raspberry, and perhaps gold. The doll rods would be semi-cheap and the ribbon could be ordered in bulk from on-line stores.
Not thrilled by the option? Well then we're pretty much only left with bubbles, bells or no real "exit" at all.
Note: Rose petals, rice and confetti are out of the question seeing as how our guests would have to pick everything up from off the ground after throwing it on us. A balloon release would be pretty, but environmentally unfriendly.
So, comment or vote: ribbon wavers, bubbles, bells, or no exit necessary.Heads up, I've been posting twice a day recently and I'll be posting a lot more often in the coming months...mark your calendars!

I'm not a fan of ribbon wands (those girls on the knot give them such a bad name!). And I was told by a friend I could not do bubbles.
ReplyDeleteI've decided not to do anything.
I assume sparklers are not an option. for you.
I actually think this is an adorable idea. I think it's the first time I've seen it, and I think this is a great pic. It adds so much color. I love the ideas of bells ringing as we make our way down the aisle. I might use this idea to add color and movement and tie bells on to add the sound.
ReplyDeleteps-love your blog!
Love this idea!
ReplyDeleteoh and tag!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea! You can get great deals on ribbon at www.bbcrafts.com, if you decide to do it! The quality has been great for me so far, and they're fast and cheap!
ReplyDeleteI like the ribbon wand idea better than the other options! And FYI - I've read that bubbles can stain your dress if they land on it. My cousin used them at her wedding with no problems, but just in case it freaks you out :)
ReplyDeletei actually just saw this idea last week, and i'm thinking about using them. my ceremony is indoors, so it kinda ruins chances of throwing anything. how do you plan on attaching the ribbon to the doll rods (and how long of rods)? the pictures with them always look awesome.
ReplyDeletebells are nice too, i'm thinking maybe everyother seat will have a bell or a wand, i tend to go overboard!
h,l & h: hmmm I haven't really thought this process out yet. I would assume that I would just attach the ribbon to the "top" of the rod with glue...wrapping the ribbon all the way around the top once so that the rod was covered...i'll keep you posted.
ReplyDeleteIf you wanted to go with rose petals, they do have biodegradable rose petals now that will disappear with the first rain or spray down of the sidewalk via water hose. This might be an option.
ReplyDeleteI love our wedding wands! They are absolutely cute and cheap! I ordered them from somewhere (if you want the link let me know, cause I don't know it from the top of my head). I can't wait for our family and friends to use them and they were made in our colors. =)
ReplyDeleteall i can think of is that Ribbon Dancer toy that was popular and the song that was in the ad
ReplyDelete" ribbon dancer writing on the wall
ribbon dancer goes up and then it falls
ribbon dancer.........gotta get one" i can sing it for ya in real life if want!!
My only reason against them is that they're not multi-functional. If you did bubbles (which look amazing in pictures) you can always have guests use them again at the reception. My friend had them for guests to blow during their first dance and the pictures are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about handing these out for the people that sit in the aisle at our wedding since we won't have a church exit.
ReplyDeleteDid you see this pix? Dig it.

I always love to see the smile on people's faces when they just got married.
