The Garter Search

As I chatted about here, the garter toss (in my mind) is one of the wedding traditions on the way out the door. I am trying to get Chris to resist the urge to scrounge for the garter and somehow embarrass me in the process, but we haven't come to a complete decision yet.

That said, I still want a garter to wear and keep. Any suggestions as to where to find one?
Just to be safe, perhaps a fun one to throw (my friend Jenn threw a Bengals garter) in case Chris wins this battle. And one to keep like this one suggested by my friend Kristen. Thoughts?

  1. My fiance actually caught the garter at my cousin's wedding (I was her MOH and she is my MaOH). So, I decided, rather than buy one, I would use hers. A kind of "passing down" of the garter.

Hopefully, one of my other cousins will catch it and keep the tradition going!

  2. Ugh, I hate the garter toss. Luckily it hasn't hit these shores just yet.

I'm going to post about which traditions we're going to include and which we are not soon... thanks for the links to similar posts!

  3. I bought silk garters from Angel Threads for two of my best friends and they both loved them! They have a variety of colors and they are all embroidered with your new initials and wedding date.

i'm not sure if we'll do the whole toss or not, but there are some really pretty ones out there if you're still looking for one to keep.

  5. I agree with having no garter toss. yes it can get embarrassing, especially if you are wearing a not so 'poofy' dress!

  6. I found an etsy place I'll be getting mine through (to keep for me - not throwing either). Its Rose Tree Garters and I posted about it here

  7. AMEN! I do NOT want to do it but ryan really wants to throw it. So i don't know how to over come this, I thought of just putting in on my ankle so its right there or maybe just giving it to him and people might be like "whoa i missed the garter toss" and just move on " lame but i HATE it and don't know how to go around it either. Maybe i'll take it off myself and throw it and ryan can throw the bouqet haha

  8. I think it depends on the amount of single friends you have....we're not doing one (nor will I wear one) and I'm kind of happy about that. But I think the gartermaker (on etsy?) makes cute ones, though....

  9. I didn't have a garter or bouquet toss, but I still wore a garter because my great-aunt made me one. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have worn one...
