Tying the Knot: My Favorite Ring Shot

Hi my little bloggity blog friends!
So sorry that posting has been slim to none here at Tying the Knot recently. To tide you over until next week I thought that I would share a never before seen ring shot {my favorite, actually!} of our rings taken by Nicole Green on our wedding day. My hairdresser had a fabulous bag complete with quite the bling that made quite the perfect background for our rings to rest on.
I hope that you all have a lovely weekend! I have been out of town for the past 12 days and am quite excited to land back in Ohio tonight and see my husband, Rawry, my own bed & pillow, catch up with my dvr {over a glass of wine} and partake in some early Christmas shopping & decorating that my husband promised me we could do this weekend. xoxo!

Birds Nest

I absolutely adore this ring shot! A little birds nest used to cradle the most beautiful engagement ring perched atop a tiny flower bud.
Speaking of flower buds, the bouquet used throughout this engagement session is just divine. The word divine can also be used to describe the light in this photo, the cowboy boots and the other pictures in this engagement session.

Cheap Shot

I know, I know. I haven't posted in a couple days and it's a cheap shot to only post about ring shots. But these are adorable ring shots so I think that you will forgive me quickly.

Back in the day, I was all about damask details. So my heart did an extra little pitter patter when I saw this ring shot from Jessica Strickland.
"She saw him. She loved him. She got him." Photo by Laura Kay.

I didn't carry a bridal clutch on my wedding day. It just wasn't necessary. Or so I thought. Clearly it's purpose on my wedding day would have been to capture a ring shot like this by Kate Webber.
In my all time list of "favorite" brides, Nicole would have to be one of them. Don't you just love the birds she purchased off of etsy to assist with her ring shot!?
A lovely reader, Kim, sent me this ring shot a while ago and I just adore the mini snowman. He's holding some serious bling so I hope his little twiggy arm doesn't fall off! Photo by: Rose SchallerFor other lovely ring shots you can visit these two lovely posts by

Ringy

Love love love ring shots.

Nicole got some aaaamazing shots of our rings. But, before I share those professional pictures with you, I wanted to show you some other favorites of mine that have come across my Google Reader in recent months as well as a few that we took of our rings on our honeymoon. Enjoy!

Here are some shots we took of our rings while eating lunch at the resort on our honeymoon. Love them.

Seeing Starfish

Not sure if it's my love for ring shots or starfish....but I love the following since they are ringshots on starfish.

A little detail shot...it would be SO neat to incorporate starfish everywhere at the reception.

The Card Box

Listen. The card box has become my worst enemy.

Originally we wanted to take 3 round hat boxes of different sizes to make a card box that looked like a cake with three tiers (photo example found here without the modge podging). We were going to affix plum fabric to it and it would be perfect. So we thought. When Mommy and I got into thinking about the real construction behind it....we decided it would be near impossible for Kristen, who volunteered to make the box, to do. The fabric would never be tight enough and it would just not look right.

So then we thought about using square boxes instead. But this is a lot of work (and money once all the supplies have been bought!) for 1 little card box that will never be used again! Seeing as how I cannot bear to use the standard white card box offered at the reception, an alternate idea for a card box is needed. So far I have only come up with one alternative.

Would it be ok for me to take a large glass vase and use it for the card box? A large vase with a lot of depth. I would wrap them with ribbon and affix a sign similar to the monogram that will be attached to the centerpieces (see picture of centerpiece vase inspiration here). I would have a friend stand at the gift table to ensure that none of the cards were taken out of the vase. The venue wedding coordinator would take the vase to our room shortly after the cocktail hour ends.

What do we think?

It's almost back to school time and this ring shot reminded me of how excited I would always get to go back to school (and back to school supply shopping). photo by jk photography.

Rings on Display

I must say, the shot below of the rings on the clock is one of my all-time favorites. However, I could be biased since Nicole is going to be our photographer... Regardless, the couple got married on 06-07-08 and now they have this to frame:
(06-07-08: nicole green)

Below: I love the black and white ring shot because of the pattern of the fabric and the ring(s) remind me of mine. You can't see the detail very well, but the 2 rings were slid onto the prongs of the table sign holder and I love the results! And who can resist the rings atop a bottle of (empty!) Patron?!

(black & white: luna photo/ table holder sign & patron bottle: Christine Tremoulet)

Dear Louis Vuitton,
Please feel free to send a (large) handbag my way as a wedding present. And you can tell your friend, Tiffany, to come too...in the blue box of course!

Couldn't Resist...More Ring Shots

I never tire of seeing beautiful "ring shots" captured by photographers.
Favorites:

  • Taco Bell "Will you marry me?" packets...too clever.
  • The limes make me want a margarita...or two.
  • I'm not sure how the bride and grooms heads got chopped off (bottom left), but I love the end result.
