What I Didn't Know Our Wedding Needed...

What I didn't know our wedding needed....until the knot told me so.

Occasionally I peruse the knot for wedding images and ideas. "Knot Picks" are the knot 's idea of the creme de la creme of wedding ideas... the must-have special details to make your wedding stand out from the rest. Now lets be honest. Some of the "Knot Picks" are breathtaking, creative, and do-able ideas. And then there are some that go a little bit off the deep end.

1. A must-have for the kids, clown ice cream cones. Juuuust in case they don't like the cake.... What kid doesn't like cake!?!?! Eat it and like it. No clown cone necessary.

2. Leucadendron boutonnieres. What in the world is leucadendron? Pretty sure it isn't the first thing that comes to mind for Chris' boutonniere.

3. Personalized coasters. Necessary!? Not so much. I can't remember a wedding reception I was at where I wished for a coaster before I set my drink down.

4. Hand stitched programs. HAND STITCHED. Who in their right mind decides, "I think I'm going to hand stitch over 100 programs for all my guests..."?!? If you are the culprit of the picture/craft featured above, you have too much time on your hands.

Please, convince me that I am not the only one that thinks the above "Knot Picks" are quite unnecessary. What wedding creations have you seen/experienced that made you shake your head and think, "Who does that?!"

Good post, Jessica. There are so many things that i think "Really? You need that?"

I would say one that that people do not "need" are elaborate ceremony programs. Put your logo on it and make it cute--but 10 pages of info on heavy cardstock, only to get trashed after your 20-minute ceremony is not worth the hours + hours of your time.

I do realize your parents will keep a copy + you'll throw one in your scrapbook, but for the most part, they get thrown out.

oh there are many that make me wonder 'who does that' but i have to say that i like the stitched program.... but you can get that effect with a sewing machine set to zig-zag stitch... would not take long at all! but on handstitching i am with ya.

I also like the stiched program. I would never do it myself, but I like it.

I totally agree with the hand stitching on the program. That person has way too much time on their hands. You don't need everything the knot thinks you need. But it's so easy to get overwhelmed and think you need to hand make 100 clown ice cream cones!

Amen, sister. If I did every single idea I came across I'd never get the planning finished!

i get that some things seem a little overboard but if they are important to you and your fiance it shouldnt matter if it seems crazy. i mean she could have only stitched like 2 a day over the span of a few months...
i think those programs are adorable but yes probably would have used a sewing machine instead

Our save the dates were hand stitched, and the programs were out of control. Folders with several pages that were incredibly detailed. Both done by E. :)
