Fall Flowers

Chris and I purchased the most beautiful yellow mums this week to welcome autumn with open arms. Fall weddings have always been my favorite and our photographer, nicole green recently shot a beautiful fall wedding with the most divine flowers. I just had to share. Stunning. And then some.

The boutonniere, it's not half bad either. In fact, I am in love.

And the bride's shoes were quite possibly the cutest gold flats I have seen in a while. Perfect for an early fall wedding.

Nicole, you have some pretty awesome clients with great taste. Myself included.

White Shoes

If you told me that I just had to wear white shoes on my wedding day, these would be one of my top 5 picks. Aren't they adorable?!photo by: stone blue productions via with this ring.

Coral Concrete

If you hop on over to my other little blog, Penned & Pretty, today you will find the most adorable paper goods from the wedding of Ashley & Todd. Everything from the save the dates to the menu that serves as a place setting it's all eye catching and its all at this post. The paper goods are beautiful and so is the couple behind all of it. I just had to feature some images of them here on this little blog.So many colors, so many textures and so much perfect-ness...it would be hard to pick a favorite out of their portraits.
What would you do if your photographer told you to stand behind a slab of coral colored concrete while he took your picture? If it were Jose Villa, I would trust and believe. And below is one of the funky-cool shots that you would end up with:

You know that I couldn't leave you without "the shoe and sock shot" from this wedding. It's a keeper, for sure.
This post would not have been possible if it weren't for the lovely feature on this wedding over at the blog of Once Wed. If you aren't a daily reader of Once Wed, you are missing out on some serious loveliness.

Green: I Tried

In honor of St. Patty's Day, I attempted to write a post centered around the color green. But wouldn't you know that when you scour your favorite photographers blogs looking for a certain color, its near impossible to find something you love.
I decided to go back in the archives of a photographer that I only started to follow about a month ago, leo patrone. If you have not already been to his blog, go now. You are in for quite the treat {almost as good as the green beer I'm sure some of you will partake in this evening. }.
My eyes landed on the delicate little green button mums in a charming white vase.
Then came this beauty. I almost couldn't believe my eyes. This green bouquet is to-die-for. Don't you think?! And then I saw her bracelet in the picture above. And I was even more in love. Check out how the bride and groom incorporated teal into their day:

And you know that I am not one to leave you without a picture of the shoes the bride wore. Aren't they lovely?!
I hope that you enjoyed this this green-ish {i tried!} post in honor of St. Patrick's Day!
p.s. you can see the whole wedding here.

Poll: The Colored Bridal Shoe

So unless you live under a rock, I feel as though you should have seen the "trend" of the colored wedding shoes. If you haven't, just read my post here. Let's just have a little chat about this "trend," shall we? I am personally a fan, as evidenced in the photo below.

I love my plum shoes more than any other bridal white shoes I found during the process of planning our wedding. They added a splash of color and an adorable detail, in my opinion. But there is a little piece of me that is secretly hoping that I don't look back on the picture above in 40 years and think to myself, "why in the world did I wear colored shoes on my wedding day!?". And then there is the dreaded point in time that I might have to tell my daughter "oh, but that was the trend/style back when we got married. everyone was wearing colored shoes!" after she flips through our wedding photos giggling about what in the world I did/wore on our wedding day.
And so, to go along with yesterdays wonderful post, let's partake in a little poll {located at the top right of the blog}. Have you/did you wear a colored shoe on your wedding day?
1. Love{d} the colored shoes. It's all about the details, baby.
2. Went with white.
3. Colored shoes weren't a trend when I tied the knot
If you would like, leave a little comment about your thoughts on this trend. Do you think it will stick around? Do you think it's overdone? Do people give you odd looks when you tell them that your wedding shoes were not/will not be white {i got those looks all the time}?!
A pretty picture {that you should save in your inspiration folder} by jonathan canalas to end this post.

Pick Your Peeps

Below are just a few of my favorite shoes snatched from photographers blogs over the last few months. Aren't they lovely!? I just can't pick a favorite. Each one is special in it's own little way. I should warn you, all of the shoes below are peep toes. I have a deep deep love for peep toe shoes, as if you didn't already know.

Pretty bows along with the detail of gathered fabric makes these shoes {above} a definite necessity if your wedding contains a hue of deep pink. The yellow shoes {below} just look like they would make your feet happy.

If I could ever pick one pair of shoes to buy {but never wear} and place on a pedestal in my closet to admire, these green louboutins {above} would be it.
What pretty pretty blue shoes {above} with adorable little ankle straps! I had a hard time putting these plum/purple shoes in this post {below}. I wanted to include mine, but I know that you all have already seen them. So I suppose these will have to do.

As if the fuchsia heels weren't beautiful enough, there is an added bonus of some rhinestone bling. Words do not describe my love for the shoes {and the shot of them}, below. I love the color {you could so wear these again}, the peep toe, the broach, the {metallic!!!} heels.....pink: divine light photography, yellow via: the brides cafe , green via: elizabeth anne designs , turquoise: travis hoehne , purple: pen carlson , fuchsia & champagne: bobbi + mike

Socks and Shoes

I love love love love love pictures of brides wearing something other than the typical white or ivory bridal shoe on their wedding day. Check out these stunning magenta peep toe pumps.

And then when I see the groom wearing argyle socks...be still my heart.
And its even better then you can convince/make your groomsmen sport the argyle socks too.

Chris and our groomsmen will be wearing these plum/lavender/grey argyle socks from banana republic

Are you going to be wearing colored shoes on your wedding day? Are you thinking of outfitting the men in argyle socks!?

Shoes on Display

The fiance actually sent me this picture from our photographer, Nicole Green, as a little idea for a picture that we might want to get.
My (plum) shoes displayed in a fun way such as this...or sitting on a chair next to the the striped or argyle socks that Chris will be wearing...would make for a cute photo for sure.

Poll: Perfect Plum Peeps

Today I had 30 minutes in between work/training and our happy hour. Naturally I went to the mall. I'm not sure what I was looking for at Bakers, but I had a Sarah Jessica Parker/Carrie Bradshaw moment. Hello lover:

Excuse the fuzziness of the image.

These precious peep toes were right below a fabulous Jessica Simpson purse and I almost passed them by. But don't you worry, I snatched them up and I am still clutching them in my grubby little paws as I type this.
In case you are wondering, my inspiration behind colored shoes for the big day comes from lots of amazing pictures...one being:

(photos of karrie and brian via amy squires)

Our colors are plum and raspberry. The Groom and groomsmen will (hopefully) be wearing plum and black argyle socks and some sort of plum tie. I think that the plum shoes would be an extra special (unexpected) detail that would pop out in some of our photos.

My ONLY hesitation is that in 30 years I'll look back and see my plum heels peeping out of my dress and ask myself, "What was I thinking!?! " The white bridal shoes are a safe bet. Perhaps I reserve the plum shoes for just a couple of photos and wear white ones for the rest of the day?

Regardless the plum peep toes were only $40. I couldn't resist.

Thoughts? Vote. Love the plum? Stick with white? Switch it up: plum for a couple of shots and white for the rest of the day.

{Update: 46 votes. Prefer plum: 23 votes, Would rather white: 4 votes, Buy both: 19 votes}

Soles of My Shoes

We all know the "something borrowed, something blue...." tradition for one's wedding day. But there is another tradition that I wanted to share with you today. One Greek tradition states that any single girls/bridesmaids are to write their names on the bottom of the bride's shoe. The name of the girl that is rubbed off by the end of the night will be the next to tie the knot.

Whether or not you are Greek or actually believe in such wedding traditions doesn't so much matter. I think this is a great way to take a piece of your friends with you down the aisle. Perhaps you could alter this idea a little and have the married women in your family sign the bottom of your shoe for "good luck."

I think that the traditions that a bride incorporates into the ceremony/reception make the day more special. What traditions are you incorporating?

Raspberry Shoes?!

If you have not yet added Molly's blog These Little Moments to your daily blog reading material...you are missing out.
Today, her fabulous post was all about her BM dresses, BM shoes, and socks for the GM. I was smitten. A girl after my own heart.
(You can see my posts on socks for the GM here and here, BM shoes here , and BM dresses here).
Molly's post reminded me of this picture that I still love. Colored BM shoes.

Her BM's will be wearing red dresses and plum shoes. My BM's will be wearing black dresses and although plum shoes would be beautiful...I feel as though the plum would be too dark with my black dresses. Imagine my delight when Molly showed me that the shoes that her BM's will be wearing come in fuchsia a.k.a. RASPBERRY!

I had all but purchased 7 of them (they were IN my on-line shopping cart) before I took a deep breath and told myself that I miiiight want to hold off on ordering them. All along I just assumed that I would let my BM's wear any black "strappy" shoe. I kept telling myself that I was ok with that. But I looooooove that picture above. And I looooooooove the detail it would add! There is a little voice inside my head saying, "oh, just ask your BM to buy them. your BM dresses were only $130...another $40 brings the grand total up to what BM dresses normally cost! And you're the BRIDE! It's your day!" But the voice of resason kept saying, "it's an unnecessary cost for shoes that some of the girls might not ever wear again...don't make them do it."

So I leave it open to all of you. I even created another poll. Should I ask the BM's to fork over the $40 for the breathtakingly beautiful and perfect-in-everyway raspberry shoes that would complement our color scheme? Or should I let them wear their own cute black shoes? Vote. Comment. Do something!

{Update: 51 total votes. Yes: 31, No: 20}

Thoughts on Accessories

One of my daily wedding blog reads The Pink Book Blog led me to Anna Bellagio. Loving these two:

And now for the shoes. Requirements: over 2 inches tall, not plain, white. Comfort does not matter. Here are the top two contenders....thus far:

(images from Shoe Buy and weddingbee. excuse the poor cropping!)

The only other accessory that I might want to wear on the big day would be a ring from one of my grandmothers or mom.

Thoughts?! Where are you getting your earrings for your big day from?

To Tie It All Together

In order to tie some details together, I am in need of some raspberry ribbon. Preferably in bulk and thus cheaper. Raspberry ribbon is about to become my new accessory until September since it will be coming into play in almost every aspect of the wedding. Seriously. Around the vases at the reception, on the stems of the BMs bouquets, wrapped around the invitations, and even on the BM's flip flops they will be wearing during the reception.

The BMs in this picture all have black dresses with matching black flip flops threaded with pink ribbon. You can find instructions on how to incorporate the ribbon here. I think it adds a cute dainty detail that makes the flip flops a little more feminine.

(picture taken from an inspiration board at Style Me Pretty from the work of yvette roman photography. )

The ribbon around the reception vases, invitations, and BM bouquets will most likely be 1'' or 1.5'' wide satin ribbon. So far the following internet sites are my only possibilities:

Are there any other sites I should visit to in search of raspberry ribbon to tie it all together?!
