Theme or Lyric?

This is post 200 for my little precious blog. That calls for quite an important post....filled with pretty images, of course! So here it goes.

My dear friends, we are in need of a theme. Ok, not really, but I want one. Be it not for wedding blogs, I wouldn’t have become almost obsessed with the idea of a themed wedding. These are the main culprits:
Breakfast at Tiffany's: (Martha Stewart)

School Days: (Snippet & Ink)
Others:Behind the Library Stacks, Ridin' Together , Watchin' Airplanes, and because you all know I love fall and halloween and pumpkins there is this gem from Snippet & Ink:

Here's my problem. I would like the theme to relate to us as a couple. I don't own a piece of jewelry from Tiffany's (it's a crime, I know) and we didn't meet at school. So those 2 from above are out. And none of the above go with our color palette. We would need one to call our own.

This theme that we are searching for also needs to coordinate with our monogram, since the monogram will be on anything and everything surrounding our wedding: I have been racking my brain for the perfect theme and so far have nothing to show for it. Perhaps an alternative:

As you know, Chris and I met at a Rascal Flatts concert back in 2005. I have thought about using a lyric from a Rascal Flatts song throughout our wedding as some form of a "theme." The line from the song could go on the ceremony programs, be used in the wedding ceremony, appear on other printed materials, and the song could be our first dance! Here are some of my favorite Rascal Flatts lyrics:

1. "This much I know is true\That God blessed the broken road\That led me straight to you"
2. "In your eyes I see forever\Makes me wish that my life never knew\The day before you"
3. "A love I never thought I'd get to get to"

But does a country music lyric mesh well with our pretty little monogram from e lucky designs?

So I ask you: Does our little monogram conjure up a theme that you think we can use? What do you think of us using a lyric from a special RF song throughout our big day? If so, which lyric is your favorite?!? Share. Discuss. Help.

I like the first lyric! Very cute idea! Maybe a scenic road trip scene? I don't know? I'm just blabbering now I think. I really like the RF idea though. ;D

OMG, what about the song "My Wish"? I love that RF song, and pretty much every other line is quotable.

"Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold..."

I'm not sure if that works with the monogram. To me the monogram seems like it would work with ivy, Queen Anne's lace, and possibly late season harvest (since the harvest moon is in Sept): heirloom tomatoes or blueberries.

To me the lyrics speak of a more mature love or of people who have gone through a lot of trials and tribulations to find each other. It is almost like that song "At Last" that makes me wince a little when people in their twenties use it as their first dance.

Having said that I love RF and the "My Wish" song is really lovely.

Your monogram makes me think of "royal", "opulent", "ornate." If your wedding is going to be formal and in a fancy hotel you could make that your theme and go with it with ornate candelabras, candelight and lots of bling.

good point ayn7!! i never thought about bringing in a candelabra and going that route. our monogram just screams it, doesn't it!?
thanks for your help!

I like ayn7's idea. I'm not really big on themes, to be honest. I think using a color as your "theme" (which is seems you are) is the best way to tie everything together. I definitely think with all the great touches you already have planned, you shouldn't stress yourself out over this one.

I'm with you...I totally wanted a theme too...and we've decided on Better Together. That Jack Johnson song means a lot to us and seems perfect.

I think that you should definitely use a Rascal Flatts lyric as your theme...seeing as that is something important to you. I really like the line "In your eyes I see forever" and just leave it at that...you don't need to complete the line...it's beautfiul just as is. :)

I feel like you already have a theme within your monogram and it's perfect for you and the groom. I think the lyrics is a fun idea but at the same time of the last 3 weddings I went to, all three of them featured Rascal Flats love songs. One actually took different lines for each table and the card table. It was cute but I think RF love songs are over done at weddings. If you chose to do it though, I suppose I support you since there is some significance to RF between you and the future hubby :)

Candice, I only HOPE that you were kidding about there being SOME significance to RF for us. And you better support us since you are one of our bridesmaids!!!

The last wedding I was at, the bride walked down the aisle to "Bless the Broken Road." Which was sweet but really didn't "fit" the rest of the wedding as it was very formal and there was nothing else RF...

I say don't try to force it in. And if you choose to do something RF, do a few things not just one (I like the lyrics at the tables idea).

Of course I was kidding. I think RF is a perfect fit for you and Chris!

i think the color and the design from your logo is a good "theme"

Even though I don't know any of their songs, your post caught my eye because I did something very similar for my Save the Dates... I wanted a vintage themed wedding, and we are using old pictures from family weddings & having each couple represent a table, etc. But, for the Save the Date - I kept thinking of this Elvis song... so, we ended up using a picture of Elvis & Priscilla - and put down the chorus lyrics next to them, and then - using different fonts, we made it look like a concert flyer - like we put "ONE NIGHT ONLY" in font looking like label makers, and plastered it across the picture... I don't know if you can really picture it - but, our guests LOVED it! Tying to music is a fantastic idea - and even more importantly, find a way to tie it into the rest of your theme for the whole wedding, etc. :)
